Moov Now bracelets and core

I want to share with you my experience with the Moov Now fitness tracker which I have been using for two months.

I listed all the good and bad.

Check them, and then tell me, in a comment, what you think. Do you also have one? Are you happy? Or do you think that is not worth it?

The Good and Bad

GOOD: Talks to me during the workout

I think that this is one of his best selling points. The virtual coach.

He will motivate us, giving tips to improve and guide us. It also give you suggestion for you to keep the right amount of effort.

GOOD: The price for what it offers

Is incredible for the amount of features it has. It allows to walk, run, swim, cycle, box, HIIT and crossfit with accuracy.

GOOD: Range of types of fitness tracking

Has several types of tracking, each of them, with several different levels. This allows us to constantly progress, and have increasing difficulty.

GOOD: The coach gives tips

The coach analyzes our performance, checking things like steps per minute, and speed, giving you tips about the optimal posture, how to land your feet on the ground, among others.

GOOD: Battery life

Depending on usage it can have a battery life up to 6 months. Mine is still working. :)

GOOD: Water and Dust Proof

Because of his support for swimming this device is completely water, and also dust proof.

GOOD: Can be worn on the wrist or on the ankle, or both

This depends on the workout you are going to do.

If walking or running, so is better to use it on the ankle to have accuracy on steps por minute, and in the correctness of your posture.

If swimming or HIIT is in the wrist.

You can also buy two cores, and use both to have even more data accuracy, and also boxing, because is more fun to use one in each wrist.

GOOD: Badges of Activity

Moov Now screenshot of badges

It has badges that you earn, depending on the amount of time we stay active.

It has milestones for half an hour, the minimum recommended by OMS, and also for two hours.

BAD: Sleep Monitoring doesn’t work well when used in the ankle

It show me that I was sleeping when I was seated at work, and when I was laying down in the couch watching TV.

Of course, you can delete those entries, but doing that for all of those, who were created, is a tedious job.

When is used it at the wrist, the sleep monitoring works fine. The problem is, because of not having screen, I prefer to use a watch instead.

BAD: Is not possible to export data

This is a shame. I notice that several people requested this feature.

For me, I would d like to import my data into a spreadsheet to more easily compare certain metrics.

I need this because, when I swim, I will do different styles at classes, with only arms for example, and this influences the data I get, like DPS and such.

With all the data, I could analyze and isolate data, and perceive better what I can compare to check my performance.

BAD: small rectangle that holds the band could get lost

Small rectangle that holds the band

It is a small rectangle, made of metal, whose purpose is to hold the band.

There are two inserts that enter the holes of the band on the other side.

The process of putting the band on is also not the easiest. It is difficult to fit these two fittings into the holes.

This small rectangle comes off easily, and can be lost. I did not realize why it has to be removable. It could even be on the bracelet.

BAD: Lack of screen

We can consider one of the less good factors of this band: the fact that it does not have a screen.

So we need the smartphone to see statistics and be able to interact with the application. For example, with the mobile phone on the strap it is not easy to pause and stop the circuit.

Of course, this has an advantage as well. It’s less distracting.

BAD: HIIT workouts could have more variety

Is a little bit boring to have the same exercises every day. It would been great if there wore more circuit training options.

BAD: The mechanic voice

The voice is not recorded, it’s text to speech, so is a robot reading out every word separately.

This is not the best experience you can have, but it works.

BAD: Could be compatible with Chromecast

The Android app is not officially supported by Chromecast. So you need to see it on your small phone screen.

You can mirror your Android device, to the Chromecast and see it on the TV, but is not optimized for Android screen casting.

It was worth it? Yeah!

Moov Now box

For me it was a great success! Now I have a more active life.

I increased my weekly activities, doing workouts, walking and running.

If you are thinking buying a fitness tracker, I think that Moov Now is worth to look at.

It has impressive features, wrapped up in a low-cost price. I recommended it.
